Science is part of our culture, but is often treated as too difficult or esoteric for most people to grasp. In fact, it requires expertise no greater than that required for understanding hockey strategy, the world of fashion, or the stock market. And, it can be just as entertaining and profitable (or not)! However, current forms and formulas for science communication are limited.
The Science Communications program is a two-week residency fostering excellence and creativity for science communicators in Canada and around the world. Participants return to their professional practices in science, media, research, or other realms transformed by ideas and confident to provide leadership in the advancement of science communications.
“The energy of the committed faculty and the diverse participants translates into the weeks of frenetic activity. The program gives you a new way of seeing science … and yourself.”
Carolyn Brown, Science Communications 2009
